The last city of our roadshow project was Kediri. Yes it was the second time we were there. On our previous visit, we gave Android training to SMK Plus Darussalam students, but in this time we invited all the junior high school students around Kediri to join on our Greenfoot training in SMK Hasan Kafrawi's computer laboratory.

Why we introduced Greenfoot to the junior high school students?
Well, many children interests to start the computer by playing games. This game can be used to introduce children to the world of programming. In other words, children are taught programming techniques by creating educational simple game. The platform which suitable for introducing kids 13+ to programming is Greenfoot. By making 2D game using Greenfoot we expected to attract children to learn programming language.

Indirectly, we introduce basic of Java programming (OOP) to them. Greenfoot is easy to use because there're assistive device such as a class browser, editor and compiler. When creating a game we're playing with the scenario. Scenario is a logical step of build a game.

For example we build a simple game scenario called Mr.Crab. The scenario is a Crab can move or turn to eat the Worm. Then the Crab has an enemy who will eat it named Lobster.

By teaching them to create a game scenario , it'll hone their fantasy and creativity.
